In the fight of the year thus far, Adam McQuaid dropped the mitts with Devils’ center Rod Pelley at 3:05 into the first period. McQuaid lost his footing early on, but waived off the linesmen and got back up. Be sure to check hockeyfights.com soon for the video.

Michael Ryder, in his first game starting on the fourth-line, put the B’s up on the board first — a 5-on-3 power play goal — at 15:26 for his his fifth of the season.

Tim Thomas was tested early on, and made the saves he needed to make to keep the B’s up 1-0.

Dennis Seidenberg continues his quest for blocked-shots king — stopping two of the Bruins’ five in the first period; including one early on as Thomas had left his crease, leaving a yawning net.
