    Lucic gets one-game suspension

BOSTON — Milan Lucic will have to sit Monday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.

After his hearing with Brendan Shanahan this morning, the NHL disciplinarian gave the Bruins’ power-forward a one-game suspension for his hit from behind on Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo that resulted in a game-misconduct during the second period of Saturday’s contest.

Here’s a further look at Lucic’s boarding call at 16:21 of the middle stanza:

Although the hit itself was borderline suspension worthy — even Rinaldo agreed with Lucic’s assessment — the incident with Sabres goalie Ryan Miller back in November was still fresh in many people’s minds. While some might disagree with the suspension (even your’s truly), it is certainly understandable why Shanahan suspended Lucic for a game.

Lucic will not dress for Monday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, but will be available for Friday’s game against the Florida Panthers. Both games start at 7 p.m. at the TD Garden.
