After dropping their New Year’s Eve tilt to the Dallas Stars the Bruins turned the page to 2012 and started the first week of the new year off with a bang.
The B’s scored 15 goals in the first two games of the week while taking down the New Jersey Devils 6-1 followed by a complete thrashing of the Calgary Flames the following night 9-0.
The week concluded with the matchup everyone has been waiting for since last June when the Bruins traveled to Vancouver for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The result in Saturday’s tilt was not as good as the one last summer as the Canucks got the best of the Bruins winning the game 4-3.
With the 18 goals in three games it’s not hard to find players with big point totals for the week, but this one Bruin went above and beyond any one else this week.
This past week Patrice Bergeron scored four times and added an assist for an impressive five-point-week. It’s not just Bergeron’s offensive punch that earns him this week’s Bruins Daily player of the week honors; it’s his all-around game.
Bergeron is one of the best two-way-forwards the National Hockey League has to offer, and its something that is surely not overlooked by his peers.
This is Bergeron’s first time as Bruins Daily player of the week.
