Shawn Thornton called Boston his home from 2007-2014 before signing with the Florida Panthers this off-season. But that didn’t stop Thornton and his foundation from chipping in to the community.

On Monday, the Shawn Thornton Foundation hosted their fifth annual Putts and Punches for Parkinson’s Golf Tournament at the Ferncroft Country Club in Middleton. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Thornton Foundation, Bruins Foundation and the American Parkinson Disease Association.

Several of Thornton’s former teammates, including Loui Eriksson, Tuukka Rask, Daniel Paille and Gregory Campbell, participated in this year’s tournament.
