The Boston Bruins could not build momentum Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks at TD Garden dropping their seventh game in eight tries, 2-1.

It looked promising from the start as Daniel Paille (yes, Daniel Paille) scored his second goal of the season to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead. It was his first goal in 36 games after coming off two healthy scratches for Claude Julien.

The lead did not last long as Ryan Stanton tied the game at 1-1 two minutes later. Zack Kassian scored the go-ahead goal in the third period while the B’s just couldn’t finish any of their scoring opportunities after Paille’s tally.

Rask appeared in his 18th straight game and 26 of 27 making 26 saves in the losing effort. Eddie Lack, Rask’s counterpart was the real story of the night as he stonewalled the B’s making 40 saves earning his seventh win of the season.

With a rare two days off, the B’s prepared for the New Jersey Devils who they play tonight at the Prudential Center. This will be the third meeting between the two teams this season with the Black and Gold winning the first two by scores of 4-2 and 3-0.

The Devils trail the B’s by eight points in the Eastern Conference and own a 15-9-7 record at home while the B’s are 12-12-5 away from TD Garden.

Who to watch for Bruins: Dennis Seidenberg

Every since coming back from his torn ACL injury, Dennis Seidenberg has not looked the same. He has looked slow to the puck and he has been making too many turnovers in all three zones.

Seidenberg has never been the puck-moving threat, but he has just 11 points in 60 games played this season with two assists coming in his last four games.

Last season, the 33 year-old sported a plus-11, but in 2014-2015, the German defenseman has an even rating. Over his last 10 games, Seidenberg has a disappointing minus-5 rating while averaging over 20 minutes per contest. This is not the production one would expect from a “supposed” number two blue-liner.

His name has been rumored to be in trade talks, but he would have to waive his no-trade clause to make that happen. He needs to pick up the slack and do it fast if the B’s want to hold on to a playoff seed.

Who to watch for Devils: Mike Cammalleri

Cammalleri leads the Devils in points with 31 (23G 8A) while sporting a plus-2 rating. His eight game-winning goals lead the NHL.

Over his last five games, the 32 year-old left winger has been on a torrid pace scoring five goals and adding another assist.

In 15 career games against the Black and Gold, Cammalleri has scored seven goals while dishing out four assists. The B’s need to get back to their winning ways Friday night and it starts with containing Cammalleri who seems to be unstoppable lately.

Game Day Edge: Continue winning ways against Devils

The Bruins have taken care of the Devils this season quite easily with their last win coming at TD Garden where Niklas Svedberg recorded a shutout on only 14 shots.

With two days off, it should serve well for the Black and Gold who have done a lot of traveling over the course of the past two weeks. A quick trip to Newark needs to result in a win especially with the lowly Arizona Coyotes on deck.

It just seems if the B’s bring that heavy game against the Devils, it shouldn’t be close. But, no one ever knows what they’ll bring to the table on a nightly basis.

With the Florida Panthers, Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators breathing down Julien’s team with 21 games to play, it’s do or die time for the Black and Gold and it starts in New Jersey.
