    Gagne still out indefinitely

An optimistic return for Game 3 of the semifinals now looks like wishful thinking for Flyers’ left-winger Simon Gagne. The 30-year-old had an MRI on his big right toe yesterday, and the prognosis for a return to the ice against the Bruins this series looks bleak.

Philadelphia’s general manager Paul Holmgren released this statement yesterday:

“Simon Gagne had a MRI on his right foot (on Friday). While the study showed signs of healing, Simon is still listed as out indefinitely. Simon will continue to do his off-ice conditioning and rehab.”

Good news for Bruins fans, but bad for Flyers fans, as Gagne remains on the shelf with Jeff Carter and Ian Laperriere. Earlier reports eyed Gagne for a reappearance for Games 4 and/or 5. If he’s not back by then, well, then the Flyers will be on borrowed time anyways.

    Bruins in 5.
