Returning from injury yesterday during a 3-2 OT victory over the Portland Pirates, Providence Bruins’ defenseman Adam McQuaid was recalled by the Boston Bruins this morning on an emergency basis.

Full-time B’s defenseman Mark Stuart underwent surgery on an infected finger, and Dennis Seidenberg’s status is unknown for tonight after receiving stitches on his wrist in Saturday night’s 2-1 OT win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With the call-up, McQuaid joins AHL teammate blue-liner Andrew Bondarchuk, and forward Brad Marchand for the Bruins game tonight against the Washington Capitals.

    McQuaid’s 2009-10 stats:

NHL: 15 GP, 1-0–1, minus-4, 19 PIM, nine shots on goal

    AHL: 32 GP, 3-7–10, plus-11, 66 PIM, 32 shots on goal
