For the first time in almost a month, the Bruins lost a hockey game when they fell to the Detroit Red Wings in a shootout Friday afternoon, but despite the loss the Black and Gold still managed to win three times.

The B’s kicked off the week with a perfect road game when they blanked the Montreal Canadiens 1-0. Two nights later the Bruins walked into Buffalo and beat a revenge seeking Sabres squad after a Beniot Pouliot shootout goal secured the win.

The Bruins bounced back after the loss with a come-from-behind victory against the Winnipeg Jets, thanks to a two goal night from last week’s Bruins Daily player of the week Chris Kelly.

In a week where Tim Thomas went 3-0-0 with a shutout over the Bruins longtime rival, it’s hard to not pick Tim Thomas as player of the week, but after his performance in Saturday’s win, the Bruins Daily love fest for Chris Kelly continues.

Kelly had three points this week, including an assist on Andrew Ference’s goal Monday night in Montreal, the only goal of that contest.

The main reason why Kelly was chosen this week was for his play in Saturday’s game. Kelly helped the Bruins erase a two-goal-deficit and helped the Bruins avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since late October.

Kelly has been nothing shy of great for the Bruins, and Bruins bench boss Claude Julien sees the underrated Kelly as a very valuable asset.

“Kelly continues to have a real good year for us. He‘s one of those guys that flies under the radar most times. There are always bigger names that get mentioned ahead of him, but he‘s probably one of our most consistent forwards this year and continues to impress on the stat sheet” said Julien. “And something that‘s not necessarily thought of as pedigree, but at the same time he‘s one of those guys that is contributing so well for us and that‘s giving our team a lot more depth with scoring”.
