(Getty Images) Tyler Seguin was this years winner of the Bruins 7th player award.

With just three games left in the 2011-12 Boston Bruins regular season the Bruins handed out their annual seventh player award before another sold out TD Garden crowd. The award is given each year to the Bruins player who goes above and beyond the duties of a Bruins player and exceeds expectations.

Much to the surprise of the Bruins media the award was given to 20-year-old forward Tyler Seguin.  In his second year with the B’s, Seguin leads the team in points (65) and is tied with Brad Marchand for the team lead in goals (27). No 19’s plus-32 rating is good enough for third in the NHL.

Seguin was drafted number two overall in the 2010 NHL entry draft and was named to the All Star Game for the first tme in and was selected by Team Chara for the weekends festivities in Ottawa

Seguin will receive a brand new 2013 Mazda CX-5 and $5,000.00 to donate to a charity of his choosing. Seguin’s line mate Brad Marchand was last year’s winner.

Something tells me that Boston’s famous pink hat fans had a pull in this vote, sorry Chris Kelly.
