(Photo: Bridget Samuels/Ikeastan Hockey) Zdeno Chara will play overseas until the NHL Lockout is solved which does not seem like it will be anytime soon.

With the National Hockey League and Boston Bruins heading towards a lengthy lockout, Zdeno Chara is not waiting around until an agreement is made. Chara will take his near seven foot frame to Prague and play for the HC Lev Praha in the KHL. He will join Philadelphia forward Jakub Voracek and Calgary winger Jiri Hudler.

Chara is coming off another stellar season where he tallied 52 points in 79 games including 12 goals and 40 assists. His plus 33 was one of the best in the league and he is showing no signs of slowing down. Chara was fourth in defensemen scoring while setting career highs in assists and points. He tallied 15 multi-point games and had a Gordie Howe Hat Trick on December 17 versus the Philadelphia Flyers. If and when Chara is partnered with young star Dougie Hamilton, look out for this duo to make a lot of noise at the TD Garden and on the road.
