Throughout the next two weeks Bruins Daily will be taking a look at some of the Bruins best games of the 2013 season. This week we will focus on the top five games of the regular season while next week we take a look at the Bruins top five games of the 2013 playoffs.

Today we take a look at the Bruins’ best regular season game of 2013.

Boston Bruins vs. Buffalo Sabres: April 17, 2013

The one game on the list where the end result was secondary.

Two days after the tragic Boston Marathon Bombings, the Bruins took the ice against their Northeast Division rivals. It was surely a night to remember at the TD Garden.

It started with a montage of the events two days prior at the finish line at Copley Square. Then, after the first few lines, Rene Rancourt let the 17,565 at TD Garden sing the rest of the Star Spangled Banner.

The Bruins could not hang on against the Sabres, but clinched a playoff berth that night. But it was the symbolic gesture that the Black and Gold delivered to a city in need of healing. And to put the cherry on top, the two teams gathered at center ice for a stick salute after the shootout.

Regardless of the result, it was a night where all Bostonians were #BostonStrong

“It was incredible,” said forward Brad Marchand. “To see how everyone was reacting and watching that video was obviously very emotional for everyone. You really see why Boston is such a special city; how everyone has come together and really united through all this, and tonight is another example of it. You’re around thousands of people you don’t know, but it’s like we’re all one. It was special there tonight and very emotional.”
