    Today on Bruins Daily

Yes, the Bruins finally have a night to themselves. And while Bostonians are celebrating the Red Sox’ third World Series victory in nine years including your’s truly, the Black and Gold look to avenge last night’s loss to the Penguins when they host the Anaheim Ducks tonight at the TD Garden.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter for updates @BruinsDaily and be sure to include #DailyLive in your tweets.

    In case you missed it

Your’s truly and Erika Leigh channel our inner Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone, respectively, in the Halloween edition of Bruins Daily TV.

In addition to The Frosted Fall benefit a week from Friday, we’ll also be hosting a watch party at The Greatest Bar when Tyler Seguin returns to Boston next Tuesday when the Bruins host the Dallas Stars. It is sure going to be a lot of fun, so join us on both days for a night full of good times.

    Know the enemy

Despite injuries to Teemu Selanne and Viktor Fasth, the Ducks are red hot in the opening month of the season. They come in riding a three-game winning streak and have won eight of their last ten.

Last year, the goaltending tandem of Fasth and Jonas Hiller sparked the Ducks under coach Bruce Boudreau en route to a Pacific Division crown. With Fasth (lower-body) on injured reserve, Frederik Anderssen has stepped in to the 1B role quite nicely. The Dutch goalie won each of his first three starts and sports a .944 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average. Hiller, still standing in the 1A role, is doing quite well too, with a 5-2-0 record, a 2.56 goals against average and .913 save percentage, and will get the start tonight.

The Ducks have an abundance of injuries, including Selanne, Fasth, Sheldon Souray and Saku Koivu (just to name a few), but have overcome that quite nicely. Former Hart Trophy winner Corey Perry (six goals, seven assists) and Ryan Getzlaf (five goals, eight assists) are each averaging a point per game and continue to spark on the team’s first line, while Nick Bonino (eight points) provides Anaheim with a good secondary scoring option.

Anaheim should get Dustin Penner back in the lineup. The Ducks come in red-hot, while the Bruins are in midst of their first two-game losing streak of the year.

    Bruins linkage

Ryan Spooner has been recalled from Providence. Two questions here: No. 1 what prompted the call-up and No. 2 will he be in the lineup? (Joe Haggerty/CSNNE)

Uncharacteristic gaffes cost the Bruins in their loss to the Penguins last night. (Ty Anderson/Hockey Buzz)

    League linkage

Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov was arrested last night and apparently the head of the State Duma Committee for Physical Culture blames the U.S. for the arrest. The reason being? Because it weakens Russia’s chances of winning gold in the Winter Olympics. Seriously. (Voice of Russia)

Speaking of the Avs, the team traded Steve Downie to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Maxim Talbot. (NHL.com)

And finally, being in the Halloween spirit and all, here is part two of the creepiest hockey logos ever. (Puck Daddy)

Another reminder of our festivities for next week:

Somewhere, Tim Thomas is smiling assuming he see’s these Ducks fans dressed as characters from “Duck Dynasty”.

    For something completely different…

Apparently, one writer from Gawker decided to post a takedown piece on Boston in a total worthless article (warning, NSFW).
