The Boston Bruins scored three unanswered goals in Dallas last night to upend Tyler Seguin and the Stars 3-1. Tuukka Rask stopped 36 of 37 shots on the night while Loui Eriksson, Gregory Campbell and Dougie Hamilton were the goal scorers.

The B’s special teams’ had a solid night as the penalty kill was a perfect 6-for-6 while they went 1-for-4 on the power-play including their late goal by Hamilton that gave them some breathing room.

On Boston.com: Bruins special teams shine in Dallas

Claude Julien’s team brought a lot of energy to the Lone Star state while executing their game plan of getting bodies to the net and layering up on defense.

Tonight, the Black and Gold will need to bring the same plan and attitude as they travel to Colorado to face off against old friend Jarome Iginla and the Avalanche. The Avs took the first meeting of the season when Daniel Briere scored with less than one second left to give his team the 2-1 win at TD Garden back in October.

The Bruins will try to end their first half on a high note. They improved their road record to 10-9-2 with their win last night in Dallas while the Avs sport an 11-9-3 record at home. Look for Brad Marchand to return to the B’s lineup after serving his two-game suspension for his slew foot of Derick Brassard last week.

Who to watch for Bruins: David Pastrnak

The 18 year-old got off to a hot start for the Black and Gold scoring four goals in two games against the Lightning and Flyers earlier this month, but since then has struggled.

It’s expected of a young player trying to transform his game to the American style of play. He will have his ups and downs. But, just because he isn’t lighting the lamp every night doesn’t mean he isn’t doing the little things that don’t show up on a stat sheet like back-checking, fore-checking and making the simple pass.

The right-winger is just struggling to find space. In his last three games, Pastrnak has zero points and has only recorded two shots on net. He only played 11 minutes in Dallas due to his ineffectiveness and Julien mixing up lines, but Pastrnak is nothing to worry about. He is a kid learning the way and he will be just fine.

Who to watch for Avalanche: Jarome Iginla

It seems whoever the B’s play on a given night, a former teammate of theirs is opposite the bench. Last night it was Tyler Seguin, tonight it’s Jarome Iginla.

Iginla’s name has surfaced many times this season in Boston due to their little production on the first-line wing, but since the emergence of Pastrnak all has been forgotten. But, it shouldn’t be.

The former Bruin can still play and he can still score. He is tied for first in goals on the Avs with 13 and he is second on the team in points with 30 – only trailing Alex Tanguay by one point.

In his last five games, Iginla has one goal and two assists while riffling off 18 shots in those contests. He may be 37 years-old, but Iginla is still a threat to score every time he touches the ice.

Game day edge: Finish first half strong

The B’s sought out on this mini two game road trip for four points. They took care of business Tuesday night in Dallas with timely goals, great goaltending and effective special teams. Julien’s team must do the same tonight against the Avalanche if they want to head into the break on a high note.

The energy the team brought last night was infectious. There is no changing their ways tonight in Colorado. Build an early lead and take their crowd out of it. It’s as simple as that.

With the penalty kill rolling for the Black and Gold, the power-play starting to show signs of life and their physicality re-emerging, the All Star break is coming at the wrong time for the hometown team.
