Four Bruins featured in NHL 17 campaign

It has been two months since EA Sports’ NHL 17 hit the shelves for the XBOX One and Playstation 4 and the game has garnered critical acclaim. Features such as Owner Mode, Hockey Ultimate Team and its fully functional customization mode – where players can create players and teams to a T – have undoubtedly given EA its best hockey franchise in its three releases to the eighth generation of gaming consoles.

As the holidays quickly approach, some fans who haven’t purchased the game yet might put this on their wish-list. With that in mind, EA is starting a campaign where real-life hockey players take in a friendly game of NHL 17. The Boston Bruins were one of four teams that were featured to begin that campaign.

Filming at The Four’s right across from TD Garden, Torey Krug, Joe Morrow, Kevan Miller and Noel Acciari represented the Black and Gold for an ad of two-plus minutes. The setup featured a co-op setting where Krug and Morrow took on Miller and Acciari in a riveting virtual reality battle pitting the Bruins on one side and the Bruins on the other side – otherwise known as Team White (Krug and Morrow) vs. Team Black (Miller and Acciari).

After a gritty battle and trash talking between the two sides, the game needed to be settled in overtime. But in the end Krug and Morrow prevailed as the Bruins of Team White defeated the Bruins of Team Black. I wonder if Miller and Acciari had to pay for Krug and Morrow’s meal at The Four’s as part of the wager?

NHL 17 is available worldwide at retail stores and online shopping outlets.
