In two weeks, the NHL’s brightest stars will take center stage in Los Angeles for All-Star weekend. On Tuesday, the league announced the rosters for the annual event.

For the first time in their respective careers, Brad Marchand and Tuukka Rask were named to the All Star team. The two veterans will represent the Bruins and the Atlantic Division at the Staples Center on January 28th and 29th.

Through the first 43 games of 2016-17, Marchand leads the Bruins in points with 35 (13 goals, 22 assists) that includes three goals in his last two games. The third round pick in 2016, who represented Team Canada at the World Cup of Hockey, notched a career-high 37 goals a year ago and inked an eight-year contract extension worth $49 million prior to the start of the 2016-17 regular season. Since his first full season in 2010-11, the 28-year-old Halifax, Nova Scotia native leads the league in shorthanded goals with 20 and plus/minus at plus-145.

Like Marchand, Rask has also been an important member of the Bruins core and is having a solid bounce-back season. The 29-year-old, who’s represented Team Finland at the Olympics and World Cup, leads the league in shutouts with five, ranks third in both goals against average (1.93) and wins (tied with three others with 20) and is tied with two others for fifth in save percentage (.928).

Marchand and Rask will join an Atlantic Division team captained by Canadiens’ all-world goaltender Carey Price. Sidney Crosby (Metropolitan), P.K. Subban (Central) and Connor McDavid (Pacific) are the other three captains for their respective divisions.

David Pastrnak, who leads the Bruins in goals with 19 – still good for a tie for sixth with three others despite a career-long 10-game goal drought – was one of a few notable snubs for the game. Others on that list include Dustin Byfuglien, Cam Atkinson and Artemi Panarin – just to name a few.

For the second straight year, the league’s best, that also includes the likes of Evgeni Malkin, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Brent Burns, Ryan Suter and Devan Dubnyk, will take part in the 3-on-3 format. The first two games – taking place in the first two periods – will feature the Pacific Division taking on the Central Division followed by a matchup between the Atlantic and Metropolitan Divisions. The winners of those games will face off in the third for a cash prize and bragging rights.
