Brad Marchand ejected for spearing Jake Dotchin

Entering Tuesday’s pivotal matchup with the Lightning, Brad Marchand was one of five Bruins to appear in all 80 games. It is likely that list will be down to four entering Game 81 against the Senators on Thursday night.

The ugly side of Marchand couldn’t have come at a worse time. In a scoreless game late in the first period, the veteran speared Lightning defenseman Jake Dotchin beneath the waste – to put it in family friendly terms – and earned himself a game misconduct.

For those who missed the incident at 19:20 of the first period, here’s the clip.

Marchand will most certainly hear from the league regarding his latest spear in an area deemed not safe for work. He avoided suspension twice for aggressively tripping (or more appropriately slew-footing) Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall and Lightning blue-liner Anton Stralman just one week apart. It’s safe to say the third time won’t be the charm for the Bruins’ leading scorer.
