Boston Bruins defenseman and Norris Trophy winner, Zdeno Chara, confirmed to bruins.nhl.com that he will in fact be wearing the “C” on his Slovakian Olympic jersey. A Captain with the Bruins and now for his home country, Chara is one of 13 Slovakian-born NHL players representing their county at this year’s 2010 Winter Olympics. Big Zee and Slovakia - along with Black-and-Gold teammate Miroslav Satan – open-up their Olympic competition against David Krejci and Medal-contending Team Czech Republic on Thursday, at 3pm EST.
*Thanks to the Google traslator and a heads-up reader; ‘Captain’ is translated to ‘Kapitán’ in Slovak. So Chara should be wearing a “K” on his chest, and not a “C’”.
